Hot weather, thundershowers forecast for upper Thailand, more rains in South

The Meteorological Department has forecast thundershowers, gusty winds and hail for upper Thailand today (April 14) due to a high-pressure system from China.

People should beware of severe conditions by keeping away from big trees and unsecured buildings. Farmers should be ready to prevent crop damage, it advised. The weak easterly wind prevails over the Gulf and the South. More rain is likely in the South.

Here’s the weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

North: Hot with thundershowers, gusty winds and hail in 40 per cent of the region; temperature lows of 21-25 degrees Celsius and highs of 33-39 degrees.

Northeastern: Thundershowers and gusty winds in 10 per cent of the region, temperature lows of 20-22 degrees Celsius and highs of 27-30 degrees.

Central region: Hot with thundershowers and gusty winds in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-26 degrees Celsius, highs of 35-36 degrees.

East: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers and gusty winds in 30 per cent of the region; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees Celsius, highs of 33-36 degrees; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the region; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees Celsius, highs of 33-36 degrees; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (west coast): Hot with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the region; temperature lows of 23-27 degrees Celsius, highs of 33-36 degrees; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Hot with thundershowers and gusty winds in 30 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 24-25 degrees Celsius, highs of 33-35 degrees.
